Williams: Thursday’s meeting was marked with seriousness and Awareness.

On Friday, the UN envoy to Libya, “Stephanie Williams,” described the consultative meeting of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum via video call, which was held Thursday as “constructive” with a high degree of awareness of the urgent situation, “despite the divergence of views.

“Williams added” that a number of participants stressed the need to speed up the process of choosing a mechanism for electing the new executive authority, stressing that the matter is in the hands of the Libyans themselves, and that they should take advantage of this opportunity to achieve real progress.

Williams added that she will contact all members who were unable to participate in this meeting to ask for their views on the most appropriate and consensual way to choose a mechanism for choosing the executive authority so that we can move to the next step in implementing the Road Map.

It is worth noting that the road map agreed upon by the members of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum in Tunisia last November provided for the election of a presidential council and a separate government from it by the members of this forum.
