Williams: The Military Committee “5 + 5 agreed that the mercenaries would leave Libya within 90 days in the event that a UN-supervised ceasefire was established.

The UN envoy to Libya, Stephanie Williams, revealed that the Libyan parties participating in the talks of the Military Committee “5 + 5” have decided that mercenaries would leave the country within 90 days if they agree to a ceasefire under the supervision of the UN.

On Saturday, Williams said in an interview with the Russian agency “Sputnik” that the fate of mercenaries and foreign forces in Libya will be one of the items in the joint military committee dialogue, related to the ceasefire, in addition to dismantling militias, rehabilitating and integrating militants into security institutions.

Williams emphasized that dialogue is the only way to get out of the current Libyan political deadlock and to go to a comprehensive political settlement.

Williams explained that the mission supports the principle that participants in the political dialogue pledge not to run or accept any high-ranking position in the country during the transitional phase or the preparatory period before the elections. And this is the demand of many Libyans whom the mission met, according to what Williams said.
