The Acting Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Stephanie Williams, said that setting the date for the elections on December 24, 2021, is an achievement according to the Road Map, and it is a goal that we will not back down from and emphasize, and we cannot continue an open process.
“Williams added” during the dialogue session, Wednesday, that Libya needs the responsibility-sharing formula that will take it to these elections, not the power-sharing formula, otherwise we will not be able to succeed.
“We need to form an advisory committee of 15 members in the dialogue,” Williams emphasized. To reach a consensus on contentious issues, pointing out that this process must be sustained and obstacles addressed.
It is worth noting that the Acting Special Representative of the Secretary-General “Stephanie Williams announced, last Monday, the launch of the first session of the Legal Committee, consisting of 18 members of the Political Dialogue Forum, specialized in following up on legal issues related to the legal framework necessary to implement the elections.
