UNSMIL: 16 deaths and 15 injured among civilians in June

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) documented on Monday 31 civilian casualties, including 16 deaths and 15 injuries in June as hostilities raged across Libya.

Of the victims, 12 were men, one woman and three children, while nine men, three women and three children were injured, said the Mission.

The majority of civilian casualties were caused by medium and heavy weapons, air raids and remnants of war Non-explosive in Derna, Ajdabiya and Bani Walid.

UNSMIL also documented 11 more cases of possible violations of international humanitarian law or violations of international human rights law in Ajaylat, Derna, Misurata, Sabha and Tobruk.

 

The UN mission in Libya documented last May 101 civilian casualties, including 47 deaths and 54 injured in the course of hostilities throughout Libya.
