Turkish presidency: The Berlin conference makes no sense if Hifter continues his attacks on Tripoli.

Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Qalan said on Sunday that it does not make sense to meet in Berlin if Hifter continues his attacks on Tripoli.

Qalan said, according to the Turkish “TRT” channel, that Turkish President Rejep Tayyip Erdogan will hold phone discussions on Sunday afternoon with German Chancellor Angela Merkel at her request to discuss the Libyan issue.

Qalan pointed out that the five permanent members of the Security Council are supposed to participate in the Berlin conference, alongside Turkey, Germany, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Italy, the European Union, the African Union, and the Arab League, noting that the Turkish president is waiting on the subject of participation “pending the full picture becomes clear, and the question marks disappear, according to him.

On the issue of sending soldiers to Libya following the request of the internationally recognized GNA for military support from Ankara, he pointed out that the issue will be submitted to the Turkish Parliament for a mandate to do so, and an assessment of the circumstances and conditions will be made.

It is reported that, on January 7, foreign ministers of France, Germany, Italy and Britain will visit Tripoli to discuss the preparations for the Berlin conference and the Turkish-Libyan agreement, according to press sources.
