The Turkish Foreign Ministry confirmed, on Tuesday, in their first comment on the incident of Haftar’s militias detaining a ship operated by a Turkish company and its Turkish crew, that if Turkish interests in Libya are targeted, the consequences of this will be dire, and we will consider those who do so as a legitimate target.
The Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the detention of a ship run by a Turkish company with a Turkish crew off the harbor of the city of Sousse in Libya, and calls for its immediate release, to resume her journey, as they put it.
It is worth noting that the spokesman for Haftar’s militia, Ahmed Al-Mismari, announced the detention of a ship flying the Jamaican flag, 7 of its crew of Turkish nationality, 7 of Indian nationality, and one from Azerbaijan.
