Tripoli municipality suspends work in protest of mayor’s kidnapping

The Tripoli Municipality suspended work on Thursday in protest of the abduction of mayor, AbdelRaouf Beit El-Mal.

The municipality said in a statement, the mayor had been abducted from his home on gun point by what it described as “malicious agents” who took him to an unknown destination.

The municipality called on the Presidential Council (PC) and all officials to take all necessary and immediate measures to release Beit El-Mal, considering that these actions are threatening the establishment of the state and its civilians, and is dragging the capital into chaos, according to the statement.

Media outlets indicated that the mayor of Tripoli was arrested, for administrative investigation in offenses and abuses related to the municipality.
