The Wall Street Journal revealed that Washington may impose sanctions on Haftar for his role in preventing the resumption of exporting oil from wells in the east of the country by order of the Russians.
On Sunday, the newspaper quoted US State Department officials as saying that these sanctions expected to be imposed on Haftar to deter his “ridiculous” actions, and that the United States hopes these sanctions will force Haftar to cut ties with Russia.
It is worth noting that the US military command in Africa “AFRICOM” confirmed, last Friday, that Russia and Wagner mercenaries continue to participate in land and air operations in Libya, noting that the size of Russian equipment provided to Wagner indicates an intention to enhance its offensive combat capabilities.
