The United States and Italy affirm their support for the elections in Libya.

On Friday, Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio and American Anthony Blinken affirmed their support for the Libyan people and Libyan institutions on their path towards free and fair elections and a sustainable political solution to the crisis, within the framework of the United Nations.

Di Maio and Blinken expressed in a joint article published in La Repubblica newspaper marking the 160th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Rome and Washington, their countries’ support for the stability of the Mediterranean region and a sustainable solution to the Libyan crisis, according to the Italian news agency AKI. .

It is worth noting that the foreign ministers of Italy “Luigi Di Maio”, Germany “Heiko Mas” and the French “Jean Le Drian” visited Tripoli on the 25th of last March, and stressed the need for the exit of mercenaries and foreign fighters from Libya.
