The UN mission: Congratulates the Libyans on the 69th anniversary of Independence Day and being one year away from holding elections.

On Thursday, the UN Support Mission in Libya congratulated the Libyans on the 69th anniversary of the National Independence Day, pointing out that Libya is one year away to hold elections, according to what was agreed upon between the members of the Political Dialogue Forum .

In a statement, the mission stressed the importance of this positive progress achieved by the Libyans in the various tracks, by ending the fighting, moving forward with the implementation of a comprehensive ceasefire, and the continuous improvement in the economic aspects.

The mission called for unification of efforts and turning the page on the past, stressing its commitment to helping the Libyans build a unified state, achieve democratic legitimacy for national institutions, restore the country’s sovereignty and end foreign interference.

It is worth noting that the 24th of December marks the 69th anniversary of National Independence Day.
