Italian diplomatic sources confirmed that Italian Foreign Minister “Luigi de Mayo” will visit Tripoli next Tuesday to meet the President of the Presidential Council, Fayez Asarraj, on his first official mission since he took office last September.
The Italian “Nova” agency added on Saturday that this visit comes in the context of the Italian government’s efforts to formulate a common European stance towards the Libyan crisis in light of the increasing participation of Russia and Turkey in the Libyan issue, according to the agency.
The agency denied rumors about an unannounced visit of Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte to Benghazi to meet Hifter.
It is worth noting that Italy, together with Germany and France, affirmed in a joint statement, the work on the success of the Berlin Conference on the Libyan crisis.
