The European Union extends Operation “Irini” to monitor the arms embargo on Libya for two years.

A European official said that the European Union will extend its military mission in the Mediterranean to monitor the arms embargo on Libya.

The official explicitly stated to France Press Agency on Wednesday that the European Commission will adopt a decision next week. To extend the mandate of Operation Irini for an additional two years.

It is worth noting that in March 2020 the European Union launched an operation called “Irini”. To monitor ships that violate the embargo on arms entering Libya.
