Ghassan Salama, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy to Libya, expressed concern about Russian support for Hifter in his aggression against the capital, Tripoli.
Salama explained in an interview with the Italian newspaper “Corriere della Sera”, on Sunday, that he feared a “bloodbath” and mass exodus, if the fighting moved to populated areas in Tripoli.
The GNA army forces had found belongings of Russian mercenaries fighting in Hifter’s ranks, and confirmed targeting their gatherings and whereabouts in areas south of Tripoli, killing and wounding dozens of them.
