Saeed: The ICC’s visit to the mass graves in Tarhuna is an important step in achieving justice for the families of the victims.

On Thursday, a member of the House of Representatives from Tarhuna, Abubaker Saeed, said that efforts are continuing to find out the identity of the bodies exhumed from the city’s mass graves, but that they are not proceeding rapidly, due to a lack of DNA-related equipment and analyzes, to identify the victims’ identity.

Saeed clarified, in a statement to Arraed, that the procedures of the judiciary and courts in the cases filed regarding mass graves take their time, just like other regular cases, indicating that the families of the victims are bored of waiting for the results.

Saeed added that a team from the International Criminal Court visited Tarhuna, examined the mass graves there, and prepared a report about them, but it will take time to take final measures regarding them, considering it an important and advanced step in the pursuit of justice for the families of the victims.

It is worth noting that the number of graves revealed by the General Authority for Search and Identification of Missing Persons in the city of Tarhuna amounted to 29 graves, of which 123 bodies were exhumed in the city, and only 6 of them were identified.
