Russia impede a resolution to include the Al Kani militia in the list of human rights violations.

On Saturday, Russia prevented a UN Security Council committee from including Haftar’s Al-Kani militia and its leader, Mohamed Al-Kani, in the blacklist of human rights violations.

Arabi 21 reported that the United States and Germany demanded that the Libya Sanctions Committee, which includes 15 council members, impose an asset freeze and travel ban on Al Kani, pointing out that this step must be approved unanimously, but Russia did not agree.

In the same context, a Russian diplomat at the Security Council said, “Their support of this resolution in the future possible, but it is conditional on providing conclusive evidence of the involvement of the Alkani militia in killing civilians – according to Arabi 21.

It is worth noting that Washington intended, last Tuesday, to submit a request to the UN Security Council to include the “Al-Kani” militia, which is close to the commander of the aggression, Khalifa Haftar, in the UN sanctions list.
