Remains of Christian Egyptians executed by IS in Libya handed over to Egypt

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry expressed on Tuesday appreciation for the efforts made by the Libyan Attorney General’s Office and the Libyan authorities to return the remains of 20 Egyptians who were killed by IS in Libya.

The Foreign Ministry pointed out to the solidarity and the concern of all Libyan authorities, stressing that the transfer of the deceased was in coordination with the judicial representatives in Libya.

On Monday evening, the remains of the Egyptian nationals arrived in Cairo from Misurata after completing all procedures related to their transport.

The prosecutor’s office announced last October that the bodies of Egyptian citizens killed by IS in 2015 were recovered after detained IS members confessed the whereabouts of their burial.
