Radio France Internationale revealed in a report that a French couple had been arrested in possession of 20 thousand euros of “rotten” banknotes stolen from the Central Bank of Libya in Benghazi in 2017.
The report revealed, according to the radio website, Friday, that Haftar’s son Saddam was the one who stole this money and ordered its transfer to an unknown location with the help of his followers under strict security protection, pointing out that it is not the first time that “Saddam” has been accused of robbing a bank as he did so in Tripoli in the year 2011.
The radio quoted, according to the United Nations report, that the bank’s contents are estimated at 640 million Libyan dinars, 160 million euros, two million dollars, and 6 thousand silver coins, and it is likely that the funds circulating in France and Germany originated from the Central Bank of Benghazi.
It is worth noting that the report of a committee of experts issued by the United Nations revealed in September 2018 Saddam Haftar’s involvement in stealing money from the Central Bank of Libya in Benghazi in 2017.
