Norland: There is a “small” group of Libyans, supported externally, that seeks to obstruct the dialogue.

The US ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, said, Tuesday, that there is a small group of Libyans, in coordination with some foreign parties, seeking to undermine dialogue and plunder Libya’s wealth, and give priority to their personal aspirations.

Norland reminded those who stand in the way of dialogue that they are still vulnerable to sanctions, stressing the need to support the Libyans who reject violence, oppose foreign interference, and come together in a peaceful and national dialogue.

Norland welcomed the ongoing consultations of the 5 + 5 committee in the city of Ghadames, which is achieving a ceasefire and ending the conflict, stressing the continuation of this path when a wide group of Libyans representatives in Tunisia meet in the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum under the auspices of the United Nations.

The “5 + 5” joint committee dialogues began in the city of Ghadames, on Monday, in the presence of the head of the UN mission in Libya, Stephanie Williams.
