Norland and the President of the Tebu Congress discuss the elections in Libya and the situation in Chad.

The US ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, discussed with the President of the Libyan Tebu Conference, Issa Abdul Majid, the importance of holding the elections scheduled for next December, and ensuring that all indigenous people are fairly represented in the Libyan political structures.

Norland and Abdul Majeed stressed, during a meeting in Tunis, Tuesday, the urgent need for national elections that would enable a strong government that could control Libya’s borders and build a unified military structure, according to what was reported by the US embassy in Libya.

Abdul Majeed expressed concern about what he described as “internal Libyan elements” as well as external forces such as “Wagner” in support of military operations against Chad from Libyan lands, according to the embassy text.

It is worth noting that the battles witnessed in northern Chad between Chadian armed factions from Libyan lands, and the Chadian government forces, resulted, on Tuesday, in the killing of Chadian President Idriss Debi.
