A Member of the Libyan Constitution Drafting Assembly (CDA) Nadia Omran, said that the ambitions to return the Libyan constitution to a Kingdom, and the political dialogues around the subject are in her opinion, illegal.
In a statement to Arraed LG, Omran stated that the transitional track has no relation to the path of the constituent body.
She stressed that the CDAis working on the project it was tasked with until the referendum is held. Any manipulation or any attempt to return the Kingdom constitution of 1951 or 1963 would be a direct challenge to the Commission. Omran asked that the House of Representatives prepare the referendum law that would be voted on in July.
Some members of the CDA were in the Tunis negotiations that took place a month ago. They had put forward alternatives in the case of the constitution agreement not passing, and one of the suggestions was to return to the Kingdom Constitution with a few adjustments.
