Libya and security of the Mediterranean is a top priority for Italy’s president at the Security Council

Italian authorities announced on Friday that the Libyan situation is one of their priorities in its monthly presidency of the UN Security Council.

The Foreign Minister of Italy, Angelino Alfano, will chair the meetings of the Council in the presence of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and his Special Envoy to Libya. The first session will discuss international issues, the Libyan situation and the other will discuss security challenges in the Mediterranean region.
