Khalifa Haftar backs down from his threats to interfere in the political scene following visit in Italy

Italian Foreign Minister Angelino Alfano has agreed with the leader of Operation Dignity, Khalifa Haftar, that there is no alternative to political agreement in Libya, and that December 17 does not mean the end of its validity.

Alfano and Haftar stressed the support for the efforts of the UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame, in implementing the UN plan of action within the framework of the Libyan political agreement.

Haftar arrived in the Italian capital of Rome on Monday, marking his second official visit to Italy.

It should be noted that Haftar had given a 6 month time period for politicians in Libya, which ends on December 17, threatening to intervene following this date.
