Italy condemns the attack on Bashagha and affirms its solidarity with him.

On Monday, Italy strongly condemned the attack on Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha, expressing solidarity with the minister and the security personnel who believe in Bashagha.

In a statement published by its embassy in Libya, Italy appealed to all Libyan actors to refrain from any action aimed at compromising the path to achieving stability in Libya identified by the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum, and to invite the interim executive authority to lead the country to the elections next December 24.

Italy affirmed its stand by Libya at this crucial stage on its road towards security, stability and prosperity, and its full support for the work of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya and the work of the Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General, Jan Kubis

It is worth noting that the Minister of Interior, Fathi Bashagha, was exposed on Sunday to an assassination attempt in which one of his bodyguards was injured and one of the attackers was killed and the others were arrested.
