Italian embassy says news about a military operation in Libya is fake

The Italian Embassy in Libya said on Sunday, news circulating on an Italian military operation in Libya citing Italian newspaper La Stampa is fabricated and fake.

The embassy said on its official Twitter account, what is being circulated is the fabrication of an old image published three years ago on the front page of the Italian newspaper La Stampa, by cutting and pasting a false title, describing the work “very poor”.

Libyan websites circulated a fake news story from La Stampa entitled “La Stampa reveals Italian military moves to hit targets in Libya.”
