The siege imposed on ISIS in Sirte continues with the Government of National Accord (GNA) forces firing heavy artillery and airstrikes at ISIS on Tuesday according to an official. Rida Issa, a spokesperson for the Misrata brigade fighting against ISIS said, “Our forces have…targeted militants with artillery and air force around Ouagadougou complex, Ghiza Asskariya district, and in the city center.”

“They have targeted Islamic State (ISIS) members, vehicles, ammunition stores, and control rooms.”

But reports are confirming that ISIS is regrouping and has been able to slow down GNA forces’s advances with sniper fire and mortars. Sirte is the final stronghold for ISIS in Libya.

Issa stated that the GNA forces lost one fighter from Misrata and 20 more fighters were wounded at the Zaafran front located near a roundabout infamously known as the area where ISIS held public punishments and crucified victims.
