The Government of National Accord (GNA) Interior Ministry announced on Saturday the establishment of an electoral office to prepare security plans to protect the elections in all its forms and follow up on their implementation.
On its official page, the Ministry explained that the functions of the Office are to coordinate with the High National Elections Commission (HNEC) and directly supervise the main operations room to secure the elections and the sub-chambers of the constituencies in their respective regions.
The Interior Ministry will coordinate training programs for electoral entitlements with the relative parties and provide the needs and equipment related to the main operations room to secure the elections, in addition to presenting a detailed periodic report on all its work and presenting it to the minister.
This action is meant to ensure that the electoral process is carried out properly, to bring the country to safety and to end the divisions that have overwhelmed people, the Interior Ministry said.
The Presidential Council allocated last week, 66 million dinars to support the HNEC.
