Germany and Tunisia reaffirm their commitment to international legitimacy in Libya.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel reiterated with Tunisian President Qais Saaid on Monday, the need to find a peaceful solution to the Libyan crisis and to involve all parties concerned, including Tunisia, with an emphasis on upholding international legitimacy.

Merkel discussed with Saaid during a telephone conversation the developments of the situation in Libya and the course of the Berlin conference, confirming the continuation of consultations between the Tunisian and German sides regarding the situation in Libya, and determining who will represent the two countries in these ongoing consultations, according to the official page of the Tunisian presidency.

The two sides touched upon the peace initiative that was carried out in Tunisia by bringing together a number of tribal heads and social councils to discuss ways of reconciliation and draft a constitution for the next stage in Libya.

It is worth noting that Turkish President Rejep Tayyip Erdogan demanded in December of last year during his visit to Tunisia, the participation of Tunisia, Algeria and Qatar in the Berlin Conference on Libya.
