France’s Foreign Ministry in response to Haftar’s speech: We call for support for dialogue and for the refrain from hostilities.

On Monday, the French Foreign Ministry called on all Libyan parties to support political dialogue, refrain from carrying out any hostilities, and focus on forming a new government, and organizing elections in December of next year.

This statement came on its official website as part of the ministry’s response to a question regarding Haftar’s call to take up arms for what he described as “the expulsion of the Turkish occupier from Libya.”

The ministry added that there is no military solution in Libya, and the priority must be to implement the ceasefire agreement, which provides for the departure of foreign forces and foreign mercenaries, and for the continuation of the political process led by the United Nations.

It is worth noting that Haftar called on his militias to prepare for an upcoming war against what he described as “Turkish colonialists” during a military parade marking the anniversary of Libya’s independence.
