For the first time since 2014 an Egyptian delegation … to visit Tripoli Has Bashagha succeeded in ending Egyptian support for Haftar?

It seems that the continuous efforts of Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha to neutralize Cairo, which is the most prominent supporter of Haftar, and to end the support for him, has begun to bear fruit more than ever, especially after the defeat of its traditional ally and his failure to control the capital, Tripoli.

An informed source confirmed to Arraed Media Network the news of the visit of a high-level Egyptian delegation that includes the Secretaries of Defense and Foreign Affairs and the Deputy Head of Egyptian Intelligence, on Sunday, to the capital, Tripoli, to meet the main actors in the western region.

This visit is the first of its kind by the Egyptian government to the capital, Tripoli since 2014, and it also comes a few weeks after Bashagha’s visit with an official invitation to Cairo last November, in which he discussed joint cooperation on the security level and uniting efforts to confront the threat of terrorism and organized crime, according to a statement by the ministry. .

Bashagha’s visit was not the first, as he had previously visited Cairo in 2017, and he also worked on resolving the crisis of Egyptians stranded in Tarhuna last June, and was able to return them to their country.

The official invitations to Bashagha from the countries that supported Haftar did not stop. The minister had previously visited France last November and met with the Minister of the French Army, “Florentine Parly,” describing the meeting as “fruitful,” explaining that “the meeting comes within the framework of strengthening joint security cooperation in a way that enhances the stability of the two countries and the region as a whole, ”according to a tweet on his official account.

Bashagha also received another official invitation from Mikhail Bogdanov, the Russian President’s Special Envoy for the Middle East and Africa, and Deputy Foreign Minister, to visit Russia during next January.

The visit of the Egyptian delegation coincides with the visit of Turkish Defense Minister “Hulusi Akar” accompanied by his Chief of Staff during the first visit of a Turkish official to Tripoli and his meeting with a number of officials of the Government of National Accord, headed by Bashagha after the extension of the Turkish forces ’missions in Libya for 18 months.

Have the countries supporting Haftar started to review their accounts after the failure of Haftar’s military project?
