European Union High Representative for Security and Foreign Policy, Josep Borrell, confirmed on Wednesday, the bloc’s support for the call by the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to stop fighting in places of conflict in the world,to concentrate on fighting the Corona virus.
Borrell’s spokesman, Peter Stannou, according to the Italian News Agency, said that the European Union has contacted various parties in order to facilitate the reduction of escalation and the cessation of military operations in places of conflict such as Syria, Libya and eastern Ukraine.
Stannou stressed that the European Union took several diplomatic steps during the past week regarding Libya in cooperation with international partners to push the Libyan parties to reduce the intensity of the fighting and there were positive signs in this direction. As he put it.
