Ethiopia warns Egypt of establishing a military base on its borders, and stresses that its interests are a red line.

Ethiopia has warned Egypt of establishing a military base near its borders, after receiving information that it is seeking to establish a naval military base in the “Somali land” region in Somalia, and confirms that its interests are a red line.

On Wednesday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Guido Andargachio, confirmed in his meeting with the Ambassador of South Sudan to Ethiopia James Petia Morgan, that Ethiopia understands all its neighboring countries, and that it did not accept the widespread rumor that South Sudan agreed to Egypt’s request to establish a military base in the city of Pagak. “.

For its part, “Morgan” stressed that the rumors about the establishment of a military base in “Pagac” are unfounded.

Morgan stressed that the people of Ethiopia and South Sudan are one society, living in two countries that share many things in common, and that South Sudan strongly supports Ethiopia’s right to use its natural resources for development purposes.

It is worth noting that, in mid-July, Ethiopia began the process of filling the Al Nahda Dam on the Blue Nile, after its negotiations with Egypt and Sudan on the technical and legal aspects related to the water storage mechanism failed.
