Disease Control Center warns of French milk for children causing Salmonella

The National Center for Disease Control, Control and Response office has notified all hospitals to immediately report any record of Salmonella cases in children, especially those under the age of 6 months, as they are expected to be related to consuming milk produced by a French company from Lactalis group.

The head of the monitoring and response department, Ramadan Osman told ArraedLG on Monday, they received a notice from the International Network of Food Safety Authorities (INFOSAN), that there are 37 cases of children infected with “Salmonella Agona” in France, and are connected to children’s milk produced by a French company from Lactalis group between August 2017 and January 2018.

Osman pointed out that this type of milk was distributed in the Libyan market through food importing company Al-Fath, therefore, it is expected that there will be cases among children, especially those under the age of 6 months.

He added that they notified the Food Control Center to follow the shipments of the company, stressing the need to withdraw its products from the markets; for possible contamination.

The French authorities withdrew all the products of the company mentioned from the French market.
