Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said on Wednesday that the end of the conflict in Libya was “impossible to think about” if the United States dismissed an attempt to direct a political solution in Libya.
Conte added, during a press conference on the fringe of the NATO summit, that the United States of America has a key role in the expanded Mediterranean region, including Libya as well, and that his country has always shared with them these issues.
As for the mini-quartet summit held on Tuesday on the fringe of the conference, Conte said that the summit was about Syria and that no one could talk about Libya without involving Italy, he said.
It is worth pointing out that an Italian government sources confirmed on Wednesday that Conte would renew his call to Trump for a “greater US commitment” to the Libyan issue.
