On Monday, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte assured President Fayiz Asarraj of the Presidential Council his country’s rejection for Haftar’s recent violations.
Asarraj expressed through his contact with Conte the solidarity of the government and the Libyan people with the government and the Italian people in facing the new crisis of the Corona epidemic, expressing his confidence in Italy’s ability to overcome this crisis, and cooperating with Libya to prevent the spread of the epidemic.
For his part, Conte praised the precautionary measures announced by the Presidential Council in the face of the Corona epidemic, discussing the latest developments in the situation in Libya.
Asarraj explained that Haftar militias continue to attack Tripoli, which causes the killing of civilians on a daily basis, despite the GNA response to Italy, the United Nations, and many other countries in response to the humanitarian cessation of military operations.
It is worth noting that Italy called earlier with several countries, in a statement, for an immediate humanitarian ceasefireto confront the Corona pandemic before entering Libya.
