On Thursday, Minister of Interior Fathi Bashagha said that the ministry is currently conducting internal reviews, and auditing of about 3 billion dinars, and investigations into suspicions of corruption.
Bashagha added in his tweet, that the cases being investigated have a value, in initial estimates, of about one billion seven hundred and fifty million dinars.
Bashagha affirmed the ministry’s commitment to fighting corruption, pursuing money laundering crimes, and the determination to prosecute those involved in these crimes, whoever they are, and to take measures against them whenever the required evidence becomes available.
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Interior announced in September this year the creation of a department for combating financial crimes related to money laundering crimes, and twenty-one cases have so far been referred to the department.
