Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of enhancing the security sector with the “Geneva” Center for Security Sector Governance “Decaf” with the director of the center, “Thomas Gerber”.
On Friday, Bashagha said that the memorandum focuses on supporting the Interior Ministry in planning, to implement reforms in many of the main areas of the Ministry’s work, in addition to strategic planning and development of reform programs, and to contribute to developing the professional skills of Interior and Security Forces personnel.
Bashagha indicated that part of the comprehensive security sector reform process lies in training courses, seminars and workshops, and providing regional and international security expertise and experiences.
The signing ceremony of the memorandum, which was held via closed-circuit television, was attended by the head of the Middle East and North Africa division at the center, the head of the North Africa office and the director of the Libya program at the center, the assistance to the Middle East and North Africa projects management, and the Libyan affairs advisor at the center.
It is worth noting that the “Decaf” Center is an international institution that works to help states and governments in developing and reforming the security sector. It is considered an international organization, as a representative organization with a board of directors with a membership of 63 countries.
