
On Monday, the Minister of the Interior, Fathi Bashagha , said that Libya was left alone in the face of the issue of illegal immigration, which cost it huge financial burdens, adding that the European Union is still without a clear and unified vision towards combating this phenomenon.
During his participation in the conference on combating migrant trafficking networks, which was held on television circuits, Bashagha suggested the participation of South Sudan, Chad, Niger, and Mali in the file to combat illegal immigration, and he stressed the need to unify a clear strategy for dealing with security issue in this file, given that Libya is the key to stability in the region despite the presence of organized smuggling networks lying in wait.
Bashagha indicated that Libya asked the European Union to provide it with electronic monitoring equipment, to monitor its borders, and it is also ready to cooperate with the European Union in the fight against drugs and organized crime.
It is reported Interior ministers from Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco and Mauritania, the European Commissioner for Internal Affairs of the European Union, and the European Commissioner for Borders and Expansion of the European Union participated in this conference.
