The commander of US forces in Europe, General Todd Walters, praised Turkey’s role in the Middle East region, describing it as important in countering Russian influence in Libya.
“The conflict between Moscow and Ankara is still going on in Libya,” Walters said before the session of the Armed Forces Affairs Council in the US Congress, calling for cooperation on the track, whether through NATO or bilateral relations with Turkey.
It is worth noting that the US Assistant Secretary of State for Near East Affairs, David Schenker, says, on Wednesday, that the Turkish intervention contributed to balancing matters in Libya.
