Thousands of Libyan firearms and weapons were confiscated by Algerian security forces since the beginning of the Libyan uprising that started in February of 2011.

Dozens of weapons are confiscated every six months according to information made available by the Algerian government. The Algerian government has set up a paramilitary group to stop the smuggling of weapons in collaboration with its army.
