
The head of the General Authority for Search and Identification of Missing Persons, Kamal Al-Siwi, expected, on Wednesday, to find a number of new mass graves within Alrabit project in the city of Tarhuna.
In an exclusive interview with Arraed Media Network, Al-Siwi said, “They are continuing their work after exhuming 115 bodies from 25 sites in Alrabit project in Tarhuna , indicating that the stage of identifying the bodies and remains that were recovered has not yet begun.
Al-Siwi explained that their work may stop at any time, if the authority does not obtain the material and logistical support, expressing his hope that the funds allocated by the Presidential Council will soon arrive so that we can continue the work, and conclude a contract to purchase operating materials for the laboratories.
Al-Siwi appealed not to rush to announce the names of the bodies, especially unidentified ones, and to wait for the authority’s laboratories analyzes after the detection of the DNA, indicating that the number of Tarhuna families reported missing members is more than 330 cases.
Al-Siwi pointed out that the authority has received reports of a cemetery, not far from the mass grave of Alrabit project, which is being worked on, and our teams are still conducting research and testing there.
