Member of the High National Elections Commission, Abdul Hakim Al Shaab, said in a statement to Arraed Monday that the commission will study the presidential election law, which it received from the House of Representatives, in a detailed and comprehensive study of its technical aspects and regulations.
Al-Shaab explained that if they find errors in the definitions, the designation, or any observations, they will refer the law back to the House of Representatives for clarification, within a week.
Al-Shaab added that they are awaiting the referral of the “Parliament Election Law” from the House of Representatives, to launch the electoral process, noting that if they receive the two laws, “the Representatives and the President,” they will set a timetable for the electoral process that includes the date of its start, mechanisms and end, and the distribution of electoral centers.
Al-Shaab stressed that they have no obstacle to start the electoral process, if the two laws are available.
It is worth noting that the High National Elections Commission announced on Sunday that it had officially received the Presidential Election Law issued by the House of Representatives. It includes (77) articles explaining the powers of the president and the conditions and procedures for candidacy and voting.
