Al-Sarraj welcomes an active role for the European Union in Berlin’s tracks.

On Sunday, President of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, welcomed a more active role for the European Union in Berlin’s three tracks, political, economic and military.

During his meeting with the Italian ambassador, Giuseppe Puccini, and the new European Union ambassador to Libya, José Sabadell in Tripoli, Al-Sarraj reaffirmed the importance of taking care of the development issue in the countries where migrants come from in Africa, in addition to the other humanitarian and security dimensions.

The meeting emphasized the great importance of resuming oil production and exports in all fields and ports, and not to repeat the closure actions that caused severe suffering to Libyans in all regions.

The meeting touched on the issue of illegal immigration and the efforts made by the Libyan Coast Guard in combating the phenomenon, announcing their support for holding legislative and presidential elections, with the participation of the European Union in the supervision and monitoring process.

In a separate meeting, Al-Sarraj and the Algerian ambassador to Libya Abdulqader Hegazy emphasized the development of joint cooperation between the two countries to include several vital areas.

Hegazy affirmed his country’s support for the dialogue between the Libyans according to the Berlin outcomes, and Algeria’s willingness to play a greater role in the three tracks of dialogue, security, economic and political.

It is worth noting that the President of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, received, on Saturday, the credentials of the ambassadors of Austria, Spain, the European Union, Tunisia, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, Finland and Norway, as new ambassadors for their countries in Libya.
