The President of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, announced his intention to hand over his duties to a new executive authority no later than the end of next October, calling on the Political Dialogue Committee to assume its responsibilities and accelerate the formation of a new authority.

On Wednesday, in a recorded speech, Al-Sarraj expressed his hope that the ongoing dialogues would lead to the formation of a new executive authority that would pave the way for presidential and legislative elections. ; And to ensure the peaceful transfer of power.

It is worth noting that the Libyan parties agreed during their meeting last week in the city of Montreux, Switzerland, to enter a “preliminary” stage that begins with the reform of the Presidency Council into a president, two deputies and a separate government that ends with elections within a maximum period of 18 months.
