Al-Sarraj and Borrell agree on the need to lift the closure of oil sites and resume oil production.

President of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, and European Union foreign policy coordinator Joseph Borrell, agreed on the need to lift the closure of oil sites and resume oil production under the supervision of the National Oil Corporation.

This came during a phone conversation, Thursday, in which Borrell reaffirmed the European Union’s eagerness to achieve a ceasefire in Libya and return to the political track in accordance with United Nations resolutions and the outputs of the Berlin Conference.

For his part, Al-Sarraj stressed the commitment to Berlin’s outputs and his rejection of any unilateral initiative, stressing that any cease-fire must be able to continue and impose that the aggressor does not remain in any location that allows the threat of new aggression, according to the media office of the President of the Presidential Council.

During the call, Al-Sarraj highlighted the file of violations that include the mass graves discovered in the city of Tarhuna, and mines planted in residential areas on the outskirts of the capital, Tripoli, which were under the control of the aggressor militias, and the civilian casualties they caused, stressing the need to hold perpetrators and those responsible for it of these crimes accountable.
