The Al-Obaidat tribe in eastern Libya condemned on Wednesday the visit of so-called dignitaries and sheikhs of the Libyan tribes to Cairo and their authorization of Egyptian President Abdelfattah Alsisi to intervene in Libya.
The tribe confirmed, in a statement that Arraed obtained a copy of, that these represent only themselves and no one has delegated them, and this is considered an offense to the tribe, but rather amounts to treachery and the violation of Libyan lands.
The statement stressed the rejection of the invitation of the Egyptian army, and hold those claiming to be sheikhs responsibile for what might result from these “cheap” initiatives, warning against mentioning the name of the tribe without any authorization or consultations.
It is worth noting that, on the 17th of July, a delegation that included those claiming to be the sheikhs and notables of the Libyan tribes authorized the Egyptian President Abdelfattah Alsisi to intervene militarily in Libya.
