AFRICOM: The Russian air defenses were the ones that brought down the American drone near Tripoli.

The US military command in Africa, Africom, said on Saturday that it believed that it was Russian air defenses that brought down the US drone near Tripoli last month.

The commander of the AFRICOM command, General “Stephen Townsend,” according to “Reuters”, demanded that the plane’s wreckage be returned, adding that who managed the air defenses at that time “did not know that it was a US drone,” but he now knows for sure and refuses to return it according to the agency.

It is worth noting that the command of the American forces in Africa AFRICOM announced in November 21 that they lost contact with an unarmed drone belonging to the American Army near Tripoli.
