Abu Salim municipal council says evacuation of Tawergha refugees was necessary

Abu Salim municipal council said that what was done by the central security in the municipality, evacuating the Tawergha refugee camp at Airport Road in Tripoli, was necessary and needed.

The council, in a statement published on its official page said on Friday, the evacuation took place according to legal procedures, after receiving security reports, police stations records and an appeal from the residents of the municipality surrounding the site.

The Council added that the intervention had to occur urgently to limit those actions that threaten security within the municipality in particular, and the capital in general, in light of the refusal of those wanted to comply with the investigation and seizure procedures, according to the statement.

The statement called on the state agencies concerned with following up the implementation of the Tawergha displaced residents return agreement, to take responsibility for the delay in the preparation of the city and the provision of basic services.
