40 ministers are appointed by Chad’s ruling military council.

On Sunday, the ruling military council in Chad appointed a transitional government headed by “Albert Brahimi”, consisting of 40 ministers, most of them from the government of the late President Idriss Debi.

According to a statement issued by the Military Transitional Council, the council stated that a transitional military council had been formed headed by Mohammed Idris Debi, son of the late president, provided that there would be a transfer of power within 18 months.

The statement indicated that the Transitional Council will oversee the formation of democratic institutions that will conduct transparent, free and democratic elections by the end of the transitional period.
